Minty Fresh & Floral Pressed

At first us ladies were only tempering with the fade, tint, and wash to our blue jeans. Thank goodness for Spring season bringing in beautiful color pallets, females are able to jazz up their bottom half by playing with hot, must have, bold and pastel pants! Ah the freedom of matching our pants to the lovely tulips outside!

I love that the colors are not necessarily bold primary colors, but faded robins egg blue, dusty rose, salmon, lavender, and more…

The colors are fun and eye-catching. When first discovering these candy-colored gems of clothing, I immediately fell for them but questioned if I even had anything to wear with such vibrant colors. Just from glancing at the photos above, my questioning is now out of line. Women can match their pant colors to their shoes, they can mismatch patterns and colors, or simply color block by placing an alternate color on top, paired with different colored shoes (and maybe a scarf, if you’re feeling zesty).

The color I would like to feature is the increasingly popular, numerous shades of MINT.

So fresh…

I decided to give it a go myself…

Just like a tasty Andies Candy :)

(My sister, Amber and I. Mint vs. Strawberry)

Embrace the blooming colors of Spring. Be noticed. Colored pants are just another great way to pick a color that embodies you, make you stand out, and certainly look good and feel great living life in color.

Play with your pants!

Diet & Detox

I don’t know about all your families and the holidays, but when mine is all together for an occasion such as Easter there are countless amounts of food, wine, and chocolatey goodness! I had a wonderful weekend with my family celebrating my lovely mother’s 50th as well as Easter with the family. That being said, I gave myself one day of soaking it all in…

It is now Tuesday and time to begin cleansing into the crop tops, and pretty pastels of spring. Diet & Detox we shall!

I like to keep busy and remain on a schedule, especially in the Spring when the weather starts getting nice and people are outside playing. Instead of eating three large meals a day I normally eat about five smaller meals/snacks that energize me to run around in the sun while feeling good.

Now you must tell yourself

….ready to get tight like a tiger! Grrr

The hardest part is motivating yourself to get up and start exercising. Well, just get up and do it. You have to start somewhere. Try doing different exercises that work best for you, then it won’t be so miserable right? Find out if you like high cardio by going for a run, using an elliptical, or jumping jacks. If that’s not for you do lower intensity work outs like yoga and pilates. Or if you know exactly what you want to conquer (ex: cut abs, or a firm booty) go straight to that source with crunches and squats.

My mom says it takes 21 days to make a habit. Push yourself through those first 21 days and the rest will flow naturally.

The results you have to work for…

Stay motivated!!!!

Stay flexible…

Eat healthier. Find out your workout style. Create the habit. Detox. Diet. Have fun. Work with friends to get to a healthier you. Stay balanced.

Moving forward into spring. Look good and feel great being you. Celebrate life!

Spring Cleaning

spring cleaning

It has been awhile since I have last posted. My last week of classes, finals, and spring break have blurred together and are now ended. Although the weather in Athens, OH is still a little chilly, the sunshine and floral blooms indicate spring has sprung!

It is time to store away the chunky grey knits, and resurface those soft-to-touch skirts and tanks. Spring Cleaning is in order: both physically and mentally.

In this transition period of seasonal change I wish to focus on a few things myself:

  • Reorganize the blog – I wish to broaden my essence of discussions on this blog to a more living well and free vibe. I will still discuss topics of fashion and beauty, in addition to topics on different lifestyles, creating, cooking, inspiring, and making it work while having fun along the way.
  • Operation find a job
  • Restructure and transition myself – student to graduate
  • Celebrate and laugh with friends and family as much as humanly possible

It is time to press forward leaving our winter blues behind us, clean out the clutter in our lives, and focus on what is important.

Celebrate life, play with today…

Back to Basics

Mid Last week of classes and finals week are here, my first thoughts go to sweats, UGGs, and a ponytail. Inspired by simplicity, I want to devote this blog post to the elegance of basics.

Less is more.

Still look and feel sexy in something loose, casual, and basic.

Keep it Simple

Keep it You

During finals I realize I am guilty of going straight for comfy because we’re just going to be in the library or at a coffee shop anyways right? Wrong. Use up your final weeks of the quarter, yes to get your work done, but to socialize and play with friends. We are all about to go on break, might as well make the best of our days.

Soak up the nice weather, grab lunch with the girls, catch up over a latte, and study casually.

Jeans and a T-shirt never looked and felt so good…

As much as I love the freedom of Athens Fashion, there is something about chic, playful, try almost anything City Style that arouses me. Have you ever noticed walking around in a city that everyone looks good. EVERYONE! Well almost everyone, there are the occasional not-so-goods, but our eyes are drawn apart.

I have been in the lovely city of Chicago, IL the past couple of days soaking up new contacts, great company, good food, and well-dressed people.

This city welcomes people and personal style in a way that is what I like to call “Chicago Nice(Ultra outwardly pleasant and inviting, accepting and embracing individuality). People expose outward friendly personalities, complete with resonating attitudes that give off an idiosyncratic aura! – Ah beautiful.

So what is one thing that girls fantasize and recognize in the city? — SHOES!!!

Oh yes ladies, drink it in…Pumps will be forever in style. Excessive sparkles are completely common and most definitely intriguingly necessary these days. Compliments of Urban Outfitters, embracing the bright, fun qualities of sparkle pumps, as well as the classiness and sex appeal of standard black pumps. Party on.

One of my top favorite things of all time, up there with BreyersMint Chip” ice cream, is bargain shopping and a great deal. Even at pricier stores, ladies (and gents) you must learn to hold out for the sale. Shout outs to Urban Outfitters, Banana Republic, and Ann Taylor LOFT – well rounded, great sales. Other times, H&M and Forever 21 are my go to’s.

Noted: The stores visited in the city were very tempting with new, lavish spring collections. Yes I am writing this post in remaining chill weather and rain, HOWEVER it is indeed a leap year, March is here and we are entering the transition period. Let the spring colors and patterns peak out and intermix with current “keep-me-warm” clothes. Spring is on its way.

Chicago is busting out the colors and crops!

Bringing back high waists, lace, and drop necklaces. Love.

I love the flowing, sheer fabrics busy with all different patterns. I am actually becoming drawn to doubling (or if you dare tripling) patterns in one ensemble.

Bold reds, purples, and golds, loving on some soft pastel pinks and powder blues. Don’t discriminate cross-color relationships! Mesh your colors and patterns together during your transition period to spring.

I am fully aware of STILL trying to keep up with New Years resolutions and prepping for dare I say it…”beach season.” January wasn’t that long ago was it? Woops. Well, those of you Catholics out there it is officially Lent as well. With everyone’s limits, wishes, diets, and exercise don’t forget to treat yourself. You deserve it.

Long day of shopping. Refuel!

Chicago deep dish pizza – DUE Restaurant (mmmmm)

My lucky purchases of the trip – Black, cotton H&M tank dress, Layered Cake Urban Outfitters sweater, muted pink shimmery crop, and turtle shell sunglasses from Forever 21. Success.

Road back to Athens.

All glorious vacas have to end some time. Back in Athens ready to finish out the quarter and begin Spring! Cannot wait to return to Chicago soon!

Spring Load your Winter Wardrobe

Athens has been blessed with beautiful sunshine and warmer weather this past week, teasing us Court Street walkers in hopes that spring is near. However, the not so welcome yet gracefully dusted snow has proven that foolish little groundhog was right and winter is not over…yet!

The fact that winter is still with us does not mean we should disregard fun colors, and soft patterns. If our spring skirts and dresses are not locked away somewhere that we can forget their existence until next season, they are hanging in our closets for us to seldom touch the fabrics and sigh. Hmmm.

Bust out your spring staples, mix and match with your winter must-haves, and layer it up!

Inspiration…

Dresses under sweaters with black tights and boots.

Complete this look with an open cardigan accentuating layers, or a pullover sweater that develops texture.

Embrace fun patterns and colors you often over look. Take a pencil cut skirt or dress you’ve been waiting for the “right time” or “right place” to wear. Slap a sweater on. Boom! Everyday wear!

I rarely wear this animalistic purple print dress because it is zesty and I am always waiting for the perfect occasion. The contrast of the pure white sweater gives off a bold, but winteresque vibe.

Oversized, warm grey and orange H&M skirt/tube top (well I wear it as either at least) :p

Inspiration…

All out colors tied in with black tights

Same H&M orange + blue denim tied shirt and black sheers

Inspiration…

Shorts with sheers and frumpy sweaters

Embrace the clothes you have and rekindle your friendships with shorts, skirts, florals, and brights.

 And….

Have a Grand Weekend!!!!
